If a friend does not repay money he owes , do you consider that the same as stealing?

Not because he doesn't have the money to repay, but he just decides buying an Xbox is more important.

Strictly speaking it's not stealing but it's certainly immoral, and possibly fraudulent if the loan was given under the understanding that it was to pay for something specific, and then they spent it on something else that you would never have loaned them the money to buy.

I have loaned friends money that was more or less a gift as I wanted to help them out, as I'm sure they would have done the same. I knew however exactly what that money was to be spent on. I did get my money back, and I got an added kick from helping out a friend.

If they don't have very much money, like two of my friends, I don't really care. If they do, as long as it was a small amount, I wouldn't mind - after all, what are friends for?

I don't consider someone who lied to me a friend, he knows I'm not rich, I did him a favor and this is how he thanks me

I wouldn't lend someone a large amount of money if I couldn't afford it or if they weren't a close friend. Anything up to a few pounds I'd lend to any friend and not expect it back.

I never make a loan that I can't see as a gift. If you loan a bud some money under the promise that he'll pay you back when he/she gets paid. If you know that more than likely you are going to be waiting on pins and needles for him to pay you back because you're have your OWN obligations...... THAT is a loan you can't afford to make. But in your situation I would see that as a slight sign of disrespect... You should call him out on it.

    No.

That just tells you what kind of "friend" that person is.

I would say nothing to them and the next time they wanted to borrow money again i would ask for that money back first before i allowed them to borrow again. They will get away with what you allow them to get away with ...

No,it's not stealing because they didn't take the money without your consent. You loaned it to them.I wouldn't ever loan them money again.

Duly noted, though I wouldn't go around advertising.

Sadly she has a baby, so I can't, in all fairness, demand it back off of her, but I gave her a piece of my mind.
