IDOL WATCH: Week two of "Idol" abuse begins...

The "American Idol" whistle stop tour continues through Chicago and Orlando this week (who's doing their routing, by the way?) with the Barbie doll guest judge portion of the program.

Newly single Shania Twain will presumably give beauty tips in the Windy City, while Tony/Emmy winner Kristin Chenoweth will hopefully let someone — anyone — else do the speaking.

Her voice grates when she's not singing.

Meanwhile, Simon will tear through the hearts of a dozen more fresh-faced kids who are either too dumb or too lacking in self-respect to stay away.
These are the most painful "Idol" hours. What is it about people who subjugate themselves to verbal and emotional abuse on national TV in the name of 15 minutes of fame perpetually out of their reach? Do these people not have loved ones who care for them? Is every parent now just a shameless stage mom-in-waiting, willing to throw their kid to the lions for a chance at a green room pass? Is there no one to lock them in their rooms to prevent them from becoming the butt of a reality show joke?

We love a train wreck, it's true. It's just hard to see a line of masochistic "Idol" chasers willingly place themselves in front of the Simon steam engine.

Three more weeks until L.A. Until then, I'll watch the show out of the corner of my eye, cringing at every open audition turn. And laughing. Let's face it, some of these losers are pretty funny. That La Toya Jackson doppelgänger last week was a trip. It's a thin line between tragedy and comedy.

I kind of like this portion of the show. I believe some people are actually dared by their friends to get up there and make fools of themselves. Some people do have talent, this is a perfect chance for them to get seen by millions. The music business is very tough, everyone don't get a shot. This show will jump start your career, if you can make the top 6. I watch it every year. I love seeing the contestants actually grow on the show to become stars, only in america.

I've only watched a few minutes of it, so I can't comment on the contestants. But I have to say, from looking at that pic, I'd shit myself on that stage. Yikes! I gotta give credit to anyone who has the balls to get up there.

Most should not be aired. Some are really pittiful. The worst are the ones that are really bad and still think they are good. Reminds me of Obamas attitude when he gets mad at people who criticize his poor performance. Never acccepting the responibility.

You mean American IDLE. The folks that watch this on a regular basis must enjoy wasting their lives. 95% sound the same and although they have some talent, seem like almost clones of each other. There don't seem to be any singers who really sing unique stuff like a Nat King Cole or Sinatra or Tony Bennett. Groups like the Temptations, versatile talents like Sammy Davis JR, Ray Charles,Tina Turner, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Miles Davis, Dizzie Gillespie, B-B King, Dr. John, etc. ??????

Well I love the idol abuse. The idol abuse is my favorite part of the show. When viewers have to start voting, that's when I get bored and start watching something else.

The guy trying to imitate Tiny Tim singing"Tiptoe through the Tulips" was all I saw last night and that was too much!! It never ceases to amaze me the things some people will do to get their 15 minutes of fame!

One of my favorite bad auditions. She was on season 4. It later came out that was a comdiane and it was all an act, but still funny.

EXCELLENT!!!!Thanks for posting this! I think many of those bad auditions are set-up in advance!I think she has a bright future in comedy if she's able to cash in on this moment!

The auditions are my favorite part, as I love laughing at the people that are too oblivious to realize how much they suck.
