Many spiders are quite useful in the gardens. We are lucky to have no venomous spiders here. I had once the occasion to hold a tarantula on my hand, with nice orange marks on the legs. But keep away from black widows.
Inspired by their compassion I named a Banana Spider who had been struggling to survive in my utility for over two years Prunella. Unfortunately the freeze that soon followed did her in.
Though I never found Banana Spiders especially pretty they are not at all aggressive and since witnessing a recent decline in my area I actually miss them. I once felt responsible for one that had mistakenly build a web in a doorway that I had to take down. Seems she got all webbed-out and was unable to continue after that. My bad. RIP old girl.
...Huh?
