Snakes are fine, but spiders need to be squished! Especially those kind!

I grew up mostly down the Jersey Shore in Jungleland swamps/beach.But in the mts. of Pa I've saw numerous snakes including water moccasins even rattle snake skins and rattles.I basically only saw garter snakes in Jersey.

Snakes, "if red touches black your o.k jack. If red touches yellow your a dead fellow." (I think thats how it goes.
I do think snakes are bad ass but spiders f*ck that sh*t

They don't eat humans, but they really hold mosquito populations down.

Me, too. Swamp right up the road and beach around 30 min away.
But this is not the species I see. Tarantulas like this one are slow-moving and easy to outrun. Wait till you have to share a shower with a Huntsman Spider the size of your hand that can outrun a big cockroach (they don't bother with webs as they just run down prey on foot-), can run vertically up walls and is as terrified as you are! I soon learned about keeping doors and windows closed tight.
One thing I found out - they're intelligent. Once she finds out I don't want her in my house (if she survives) she finds the nearest door and leaves! Try & find a cockroach that can do that...

I'm not particularly afraid of spiders. They usually just startle me, but after I've seen them I'm ready to kill them without hesitation... if they're in my house.

But it's irksome to evict them constantly.

I got used to the evicting bugs in SE Asia. For your bed use mosquito netting and always keep it closed when you're not there.

Seal your doors & windows and don't leave fresh garbage in the open. These prey on large insects so no food no spiders. Worked for me.

True.I eat at home seldom.So,my home has no food left out and seldom any food wrappers in the garbage.No insects in my home ,ever!Lizards occasionally.

My lizards don't just eat insects. They are equally fond of spiders. : )
