Hypothetical Situation: If you were a Middle Eastern ruler, what would you do?

I have at times given myself hypothetical situations and asked myself "what would I do." Take this one. Say you were elected as leader of a small resource rich nation in the middle east. While rich in resources you also have a sizable population and invest much of the nation's wealth into improving the lives of your citizens. You have a small but professional and ethical military under your command and the people see you as a kind, wise, and benevolent ruler and trust that you look out for their interest.
Now a very powerful, very wealthy nation with a military power that can devastate your nations armies easily, has begun preparations to invade your nation in efforts to seize your nation's resources as its own and to divert attention from domestic and internal issues.
As leader of your nation, how do you respond to such a crisis?
