My boyfriend and I are 5 years apart. My mom has a big problem with it. I see nothing wrong with it. Meanwhile she and my dad are 10 years apart. So what's the big deal?

I guess if you are that unsure try the rule of seven? by socially acceptable standards. Used as a rule of seven.

A 20 year old can date a 17 year old at the minimum, and that's pretty icky.

It depends on the ages involved. In your situation, there is a lot of growing up you haven't done yet, no offense. I didn't realize how much growing up would happen between 15 and 20 either, but its a lot, and not only that, but you are jailbait, and he could get in a lot of trouble if your parents feel like pushing the issue.
