This is a complicated question. Perhaps more than twice even. Love finds some people many times and some never.

Because, the heart can only take so much before it locks itself up, afraid to love anyone more

Can be many times depending on how long one lives and if they are monogamous. It depends on the individual.

It was always hard for me to give love to another person who wasn't a family member. Mariko made me love her and took everything I had, and that love extends to my children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. As strange as it may sound, even though she's been dead 47 years, I love her just as much still, but I don't have any left to give to anyone else.

If your first love dies, and once you get over the tragedy, and if you have no regrets about how you related before the death, then you're ready to fall in love again.

There is a difference between true love and a crush. We are lucky if true love comes once and blessed if it happens again. A crush can happen at any time and can be quite often. It happens with me everytime I see a Sandra Bullock movie!

Hopefully, I don't fall in love many time. I would go for 1. But two is probably certain.

I believe more than once, however they are never truly like your one & only deep love. The passion is less, the longing is less, even the way you miss him/her isn't he same. This is love between a adults. However the love for our children & family is different. Every time you have a child you fall in love with them. One always loves their family, we may not like all of them, but heck they are family & we love them.

The Heart leads to feelings and emotions. One can fall in love many times, but in the end, only one person will capture the Heart for life.

There are many kinds of love. Spousal, parental, familial, etc.

Me? I have fallen on love with 5 women and been married twice. I have 2 kids and fell on love with them the today they were born and I fall in love with all 3 of them every day over and over.

While it's possible to have more than one great love, it's preferable to have the ability to make one work out and make the world a better place for it.

    One can 'fall' many times.
Sticking the landing, is what counts.

I think sometimes we confuse love and relationships. People fall in and out of love all the time.

But more, everybody has one great love in the expanse of their lifetime. But actually finding that one great love can take the whole of a lifetime. Sadly, for one reason or anther some folks never find their one great love. So, some settle for what is available and make the best of it. Others, will drift from one relationship to another and never settle comfortably into a single relationship.
