Just one. It only needs to be the width of your shoulder so your neck is straight :) Or if you sleep on your back, it should be a bit flatter than that. I don't understand how someone could need multiple pillows.

None at all. I prefer to lay completely flat, but the mattress has to be really soft.

5 are in my bed when I sleep but I only ever use 3. Two to lay my head on and one to hold :) :)
