I have never and will never block anyone for any reason...ever.

Blocking is ALMOST always used to quiet differing opinion. It should be used on bullies and stalkers, but they are very rare. I have only seen ONE actual incident of bullying since I have been here. Blocking is for closed minded cowards.

It must be somewhere about 15 but I don't remember, I've not blocked anyone in about 18 months.

I never heard of a blocked list before, and have no idea where to find it to check mr estimate.

its just wrong, unless somebodys stalking you and you have a major issue you shouldn't be blocking anyone for any kind of reason dont like their opinion ... get a life and deal with it its tht simple.

I don't block anybody. Not on here nor Facebook. I'm a generous person who doesn't like to prevent people from trying to communicate with me. Why would I want to destroy the possibility of any further mental stimulus I could gain from the person? If they wish to block me, well, then that's on them. It's just not my sort of thing.

This is an estimate. I just went through my blocked list and removed the block from anyone who is deactivated or hasn't logged in anyway in a year. This leaves a list of less than 20. Some of them, I should probably unblock--blocked from my early days at SH, but here are about 5 who are blocked for a good reason. Now days, I don't block. I ignore, but I don't block.

I use blocking for TOS violations. I have not had anyone here make me angry enough to block for any other reason.

I blocked 2 spammers a pedophile and a white supremacist. I don't want to interact with these types of people.

Purely for the sake of curiosity, can I have an example or two?

The latest example I'd say is a guy who thought I was attacking veterans and republicans when I was calling out birthers to find a legitimate reason to hate the president. Despite how many times I told him (he also hated birthers for the same reason, btw) that I had nothing against him and had not insulted, generalized, or challenged any veteran or republican, he continued to claim that's exactly what I said, and even continued to make claims about my posts that had no basis in reality. When he ended the conversation, he did so by declaring me a child, claiming my posts had been analyzed by his friends who determined I was 12 years old, and still refused to acknowledge that he might have been wrong about literally every single thing I had said.

Any others were quite a while ago. Usually involving religion or politics.

Religion and politics tend to spark the best/worst kind of debates. Philosophy's good too, if you can find someone to discuss it with, as the conversations tend to be a lot more civil.

There's a big luck factor when debating online. As such, there is a thin line between a good debate and a troll encounter. ^_^

    One for posting porn
    One for being a jerk
    One for hounding me.

I think it's 2. One who wanted to swear at me via e mail rather than debate in the public forum and another who was just a jack ass over the weather (not kidding).

I will sometimes block someone who simply pisses me off too much. I can tolerate a large - in fact an extremely large - amount of being pissed off - but sometimes I just have to make it stop. These people I usually unblock after about a week or so.

There are a couple of people I have blocked who I believe are actually insane. For real. I have blocked these people because I do not ever want to hear from them again, they probably should be on meds and/or in an insane asylum, and I will never unblock them.

I may be wrong but it seems to me that the people who have a huge block list are usually those who either are extremists that hang out in the politics page often or people who deeply express their beliefs/religion and have those types of people who believe the opposite harass them constantly. No disrespect to both, mind you, but that is what I see most of the time.
