Its just there way of showing you your dominate over them and there happy to see you. In the wild a wolf would lick the face of its pack members in submission.
Yuck, I don't like it if my cat licks me either. I'm not really fond of dogs that slobber and lick me! If an animal likes me it can rest its head on my lap while I pet it.
True - and a lot of humans don't wash their hands after going to the toilet, yet that doesn't stop people from shaking hands or using public keyboards, touching banisters at a mall, buying hot dogs on the street (you don't know if the seller who makes your food washes his hands after going to the toilet) - imagine how many senseless people pee on the benches in the park. And all the time, people walk around, maybe scratching an itch, licking a finger to turn a page in a book..... The list goes on.
I've had rats, cats, and dogs all my life - never got anything from them, even though the rats like to examine any scratches my cats may leave on my skin, and my dog grabs every oppertunity to lick my face <3 The last time I got sick was three years ago when the swine flu was busy trying to empty my school of its students.
When I know that every day I'm in contact with people who don't wash their hands frequently, I don't really find it in me to mull it over if my dog, who kisses me all the time, eats a poo :)
The only thing I really got an aversion to is people touching my face - and I honestly don't think they can blame me. If I let anyone touch my face, they know I love them :P
You'll let a dog lick your face but not let a person touch it? That makes no sense, especially when even those people that don't wash their hands shower at least once a day so their hands get washed at least every 24 hours. That is way more frequent than the mouth of an ass-licking dog.
Most of us know who the people who don't wash their hands are, we avoid touching them and use hand sanitizer and wipes.
Maybe you shower every day, but most of the people I know don't. And you'd be surprised at who doesn't care about keeping their hands clean -- just because they're not what you determine to be the "type", it doesn't mean they aren't. Some people are obviously unclean, and yes, we often avoid touching them. But you can't really tell whether the pretty woman you just saw at the grocery store washes her hands after visiting the toilet. For some reason we expect people to be clean, even though they're quite often not. It's a common misconception that animals are filthier than humans.
Dog spit has anti-bacterial makeup so a dog's mouth is actually over 60% cleaner than our own. So, logically, those who think a dog's spit is disgusting should be really disgusted by their own spit, and definitely by other people's hands. In biblical times, people who were too poor to get medical treatment would let a street dog lick their wounds so that they wouldn't get infected. So yeah, I'm fine with dogs licking my face, but humans touching it? No thank you.
Well, then it all seems to depend on which studies you prefer to believe, doesn't it? 'Cause the info I just mentioned is also based off a study. I don't make stuff up and claim it is true just to win a discussion. No need to get your knickers in a knot.
Anyhow, of *course* there are dogs that carry diseases (so do humans), but it depends on the dog; where it lives, where it's from, what it's been vaccinated against, the health of its parents, its daily activites, etc. As far as my vet knows, my dog isn't currently carrying any diseases.
But none of this changes the fact that I think human faeces is far more disgusting than animal faeces. In my opinion, it's more gross to be touched be a person who doesn't wash his hands regularly, than being licked by a stranger's dog. But hey, that's just me. I'm not telling you to see it that way.
I really hate when people avoid dogs that slobber, whenever a dog slobbers on you while you pet them, people are like eeeewwww!!!!! me I totally don't mind that. dogs are dogs they slobber, if you cant handle that, then don't greet it and get one
I agree with you that is why I would own one. It eats feces and licks it's own butt I sure don't want it licking my face but hey just call me sensitive.
(that's so gross...)
Dogs lick their ass and don't even brush afterwards. They are one of the most disgusting animals ever.
