I appreciate the sentiment, and though they say the dog's tongue is mostly clean of bacteria, I am afraid of parasite infection. Pretty cute though. :-)

Well, since dogs feel the need to jump on me, follow me and lick me whenever Im in a 40ft radius, im used to it....and dogs are CUTE :3

A dog's 'lick' will never harm you. In fact, there are very powerful antiseptic properties contained in the saliva of a dog-so if anything it will do you a power of good!!

I never understood why people let their dogs lick them on the face and lips even! Dogs carry a lot of germs in their mouths. My neighbor is bad about letting her dog do this. I told her i just saw your dog licking his balls and now he is licking your face. She hasnt spoke to me in a while.

Actually dog saliva carries some strong antiseptics. While it's not entirely sanitary to let them lick your face, on the hand cannot do you any harm, rather, it would do you good.

do you good? Ask your Doctor if its a good idea to let your dog lick you on your face or lips. I think you will find another opinion and a professional one at that.

I just said it is unsanitary to let them lick your face. Try to read the post before you reply. It doesn't hurt if they lick you on the hand or somewhere like that.

I laugh and pet them. :) of course,if they lick my face,I gently push them away. Not the face,doggie. I adore dogs,though... them licking people is just their way of sayingI love you!

I can't stand dogs running up to me, jumping on me, or licking me. I love most dogs but not their slobbering saliva or dirty paws on my clothes.

Well... It can mean a variation of things. Not necessarily that they like you but as a submissive behavior. Or it is sometimes a left over habit from puppyhood when they would get their dams to regurgitate food.

It grosses me out a little, but I always let it go because the dog is just trying to show me it cares. I have a pit rescue that likes to lick me whenever I pet him, and I know that it's his way of showing gratitude for taking him in.

They can lick my hands (because I can immediately wash them), not my face.

I'm already cautious of what goes on my face (acne problems still at my age sadly) and a dogs mouth is not clean at all. Can't bring myself to let the dog lick my face. If it tried, I would immediately push him/her away but pet him/her to let them know that I still like them.
