I used to pronounce it as in the French word "meme" (meh-m), which means "same", but that doesn't make as much sense as the British word "meme" (meem), which is "a cultural item transmitted by repetition in a manner analogous to the biological transmission of genes," coined by Richard Dawkins in his 1976 book, "The Selfish Gene" < Gk mīmeîsthai to imitate, copy. As in, we copy images and quotes and pass ideas through the interweb of humanity's general psyche, through the mass cult social media.. Just google it to see the definition and use the vocalization button to hear it. It's a relatively new word, I believe, having to do with the culture of people and things that give us a sense of belonging. There is not a lot of it to be found at SH.
