How do you make long distance relationships work?

Communication, trust, hard work, honesty, and time to interact with each other.

I'm actually in a long distance relationship myself with someone I met on here (Sodahead) and we've been together for 1 year and 8 months now. I've heard numerous people tell me repeatedly that "long distance relationships don't work." This is only true if you choose for it to be. I would say that communication is the most important part of making a long distance relationship work.

yup it is a lot harder and it is even harder with a D/s relationship to boot. But for U/us( me and Daddy/fiancee) is this: talked as much as W/we could, either it be on the computer typing, or on the phone. Make sure that you can trust them and know what they want up front and then work things out that way. Communication and trust are two important things in a relationship. :D Btw, been with Daddy/fiancee almost six years. :D

It is very difficult.

Honestly I try to stay away from such circumstances but if the love is strong and the will power alive in both of you just stay talking, keep in touch and tell each other what you would as if you where together in person. True love comes at various cost and its a matter of paying them until you reach the next level.

lots and lots of patience.

To be truthful I think it's hard to make long distance relationships work.

Occassional visits would help.

if you know that love is there,hold on.But learn each other's if you want to hold on and not just the little things.

It works if you both put 100% and only focus on you guys, communication is very important, letters, phone calls, laughs, talk ,talk, talk very important, he and you need to know that you and him are there for each other, fill that Love tank, concentrate in his love Tank and vice versa. Don't think in another person, but concentrate on you guys , work, school... and your future, talk about it with him when you guys reunite the wonderful thing you will do together and last but not less...Never give up on him if he doesn't give up on you and vice versa.

A long distance relationship is hard but they can work as long as both are willing to make it work. Communication and trust are the two big things in any relationship to work even more with a long distance relationship

How far of a distance are we talking here? my ex lived over two hours away from me.. another ex lived over an hour away and my current bf lives 40 mins away.. lots of calling, texting and emailing... :)

do your parents ever drive you to see each other every once in a while? my ex who lives an hour away i dated when i was 13 and my parents would drive every two week then two weeks later his parents would drive..

You make a long distance relatsionship work with abstinence and trust. Abstinence as in not cheating on your partner just because they're not there, and trusting your parttner to practice abstinence while you're not there.

Honesty and trust :) My ex, a good friend of mine, moved out of state and we used to call and text each other a couple times a day. It lasted for a couple of months but now we are just long distance friends :)

Keep in touch with your significant other, be there for them to talk with, offer fun conversations, maybe videochat every now and then with him, you could also send emails if he's not always online, that way he knows you care about how he's doing and if he's alright, etc.
I think the trick to long distance relationships is making time each day for one another, some one on one convo time to chat about the day and such, I'm sure they'd appreciate it :)
