How Do You Feel About Very Decorated Houses At Christmas?

As long as they're done tastefully. I love the bright lights, but if the color scheme is off, or if it's just like, a light here and there, it's odd. Still, I appreciate the spirit it brings, and the effort that is displayed! Not everyone can afford the electric bill that comes along with all the glamorous lights lol... but they're certainly beautiful to look at. :)

Hehe yes I can be a bit of a critic too, if there are too many of those blow up decorations, I am not into them too much, some I realize are to entertain the children.

And writing about the beautiful to look at lights yesterday I bought the most beautiful lit up wire angel blowing a horn, it was originally $59.99 and it was marked down to $15.00 it is soo beautiful!!! It has this iridescent plastic ribboning throughout it so it shines beautifully in day light too, sooo pretty! That will be a nice addition to next years decorations, we have deer, 4 and three little lit up fake trees and then a peguin Mom and baby and a Mom and baby snow man all are light ups I want to go back to the store to see if the other angel is still there, I doubt it, but this one could be cute standing behind the deer and trees blowing his or her horn..I love clearance sales!!! I also bought quite a few cute stick on gift tags I want to buy paper too and maybe nice Christmas cards.

Have you ever seen these enormous ornaments that people hang off their home's eaves or from trees? They are sooo beautiful, they are I suppose just for daytime viewing, but wow I love those, they look so nice, not tacky and cheap at all. I wonder where people buy those.

i noticed a decrease in number size and scope of decorated houses too. including me. working 2 part time jobs and then something called rain (in southern california) kind of dampered my abilities. i shall do better next year..,

Ohhh well in your case it is totally understandable, you had no time and the weather was not good enough to put out lights.

I only hate 'em because the people in my neighborhood leave them all up until February! Why?

See I like that, the Christmas season is too short...you would had hated my mother back when I was growing up she left our tree up until like March, the thing would be all dried up and needles all falling off and ornaments would fall off the dried up dropping branches every day, haha!! And my late father every year made this humongous wreath that he would proudly put on the front side of the house, he had to climb up a very tall ladder to put it up and HAHA every year his wreath was lopsided, it never was a perfect circle and that stayed up until March or late Feb hahaha!!! And I know of people who leave their lights up all year round..I dated a guy a long time ago who took me to his apartment and he had Christmas lights strung up around a huge bay window and it was March when we dated, he told me he kept them there all year round, this was inside his house and I have to admit I kind of liked it!

Wow stunning!!! I wish there was a home like that and the one I posted around here it certainly would be nice to see after the sad few years we have had in our family.

Yes it would cost a lot. Very generous of the people to share their wealth by showing such a beautifully decorated home for free.. It brought a smile to my face and I watched it on line, if I saw it live I would for sure be in Awe...

I always say if I win the lottery I would want an overly decorated for Christmas house, I would just have to okay it with the neighbors. But we have some nice lights and decorative lit up figurines here but no way tons and tons of lights and decorations and my sweet brother in law came here with my sister a week ago and he fixed the timers for the lights, he is so thoughtful and helpful! Now I do not have to go in the garage to turn the lights on and off nor go in the basement to do that to the other lights outside. I did see a funny decoration a few years ago there was half a Santa sticking out of the top of a chimney too funny I just hope no children saw it and got freaked out and upset.

I should watch TLC's How The Lottery Changed My Life tonight, I read previews of the episodes and on one a guy has won 8 times and he reveals how he does it...that damn lottery it sucks you in, who doesn't want to wake up one day and BOOM be an instant multi-millionaire???? Well I am getting money from certain relatives for Christmas I will try yet again if I don't win this time. I need some angel to come to me in my dreams and tell me the winning numbers, hehe!!! People say God and angels have nothing to do with the lottery, hmm I think they might. But you really are delightfully charming with what you wrote here, awwww.

I love them, nice to look at. But some people just get out of hand, they do toooooooo much. I saw this one house who had so much stuff you couldn't see their lawn and can't walk up the walk way.

Hehe yes some do a lot, I never saw in person the kind you describe though, but I have seen them on tv. Around here there used to be all done up homes, miles from here, but they were beautiful and so interesting and they would take donations for Toys For Tots or toys or money for local children's hospitals and childhood diseases charities, I always thought that was a kind gesture.

That is so sweet, that's what we all need to be doing. Now for Christmas at my house we save the money that we would usually spend on gifts and use it for people who actually need it: like food, personal items, clothes, or just a gift card. We also sing. But I don't think were singing this year. Bummer.

Wow I wish I would had done what you did this year..now I feel bad I didn't I didn't even give to Toys For Tots but there have been health issues in my family this year and I guess I was only thinking of that, well next Christmas I will ( if I am still alive that is haha who knows I may get in a car wreck, it is freaky since I got my new car a lot of people almost drive into me, sooo weird and my car is whitish, like an off white so it stands out, hmm) Your family is wonderful to be so thoughtful and generous to those less fortunate , that is truly living what the meaning of Christmas is about.

You mean singing like caroling door to door? Or singing in a church or pageant? Or at like a family gathering? We sure don't sing in my family, none of us can, well my niece can she has a beautiful voice, but the rest of us ack you sure don't want to hear us sing, bad, very bad! I recall when my brother was singing in his room a looong time ago he was like 19 or 20. I heard this gawd awful noise I swear I thought a cat was being tortured, I went to his bedroom door and haha realized it was him singing OMG the worst thing I ever heard, way off key, terrible just awful!! I was laughing because I thought at first he was doing that to be funny, nope he was in there warbling horribly and haha I bet he thought he sounded great!!! And I can't sing, thankfully i know it though!

Thanks and I pray that your family members get better. We have been having a lot of health issues in my family too, especially with me. But its the thought that counts. We sing in a church choir, have christmas plays, go to nursing homes and stuff like that. Every year that we go visit them, they just look so happy and thank us so much and always tell us is how lonely they be. Their family just register them and leave them. don't even visit and when we bring gifts and sing and talk to them, its the greatest feeling ever. My first year doing this I was a little shy and mad because I thought this was wasting my time, but I grew into it.

Ohh I am so sorry you are not feeling well, I hope whatever health issue you have it resolves itself soon and you are feeling much better and are so much healthier.

Oh I have heard how sad the elderly are in nursing homes and how their families just forget about them, but you and your family are absolute angels to go visit and sing at the nursing homes, wow you are some wonderful family!!! Not many people are like you guys!! There is a special place in Heaven for people like you and your family!!!
