The human animal, like many mammals, has strong binary (like 'us vs. them' stuff) tendencies and needs to learn better conceptualize the different natures of love in order to spread more love in the world.
A surprising number of people have difficulty conceptualizing reciprocal ethics (e.g. "love thy neighbor") and therefore have difficulty practicing it.
We don't always naturally feel love towards others. It's something we earn and learn our way towards and even then, of course, we'll never have anything close to a Utopian world.
Without intervention, humans tend to create and socially sanction many cognitive and emotional disconnects antagonistic to love.
