You!

The word is: FAUX. I've worked in a linen store with faux leather and faux fur items. It bothers me when people mispronounce it. So, how are you saying it?

Don't look down and cheat! Just go with what you know.

From the french meaning "false." Like 'faux pas' (false step).

Just like the word cheveux (horse) is pronounced "sha voe"

J'avais le français depuis six ans dans l'école, donc je suis sûr que c'est correct. Merci beaucoup pour la question, belle.

I had french for six years in school, so I am sure this is right. Thanks for the question, beautiful.

By the by, while we are on the subject.....the one that drives me up a wall is foyer.
My dad is a painting contractor, and I worked with him for a few summers. From time to time, we would get doctors and architects pronouncing it foy-ir instead of foy-yay. Used to drive me up a fucking wall!

It is just terribly annoying, especially when you try to educate them, and they are still too stupid to figure it out. I was never in a position to try to correct my father's clients on it. It must be even worse for you, because you told the stupid bastards and they still don't get it. Maybe you should tell them that the 'ux' is pronounced like a 'k' and it is pronounced 'fake' that way, they can't screw it up. The alternative is that you can go in and just go Columbine on them, and hire a whole new staff.

FYI: It's pronounced either (as in eeether or iiiither) way! ;)

I think the "upper-crust" call it foy-yay and the average joe, like me, says foy-er.

Oui, le français est difficile, mais il est amusant. Vous pouvez dire que les choses méchantes aux gens et ils ne savent pas que vous dites, comme je veux vous voir nu.

See, now if we go spanish, I am the one that is lost. My spanish is terrible. I had it in 8th grade, and my teacher was 500 years old. I used to sit in the very back of the class and fuck around all day. When she would call on me or either of the other two guys I sat with, we would call out the same answer every time, regardless of the question....it was:

Yo nosotros usted no vive en un libro

Which from what I remember is "I, we, you do not live in a book."

She would look at us like we were retarded and just move on to someone else.

Since we are sharing school stories...my last year in french...we had to talk to our teacher in french for everything..and i really had to pee one day and i couldnt think of the right words to say..so i said "me me..pee pee" and my teacher laughed so hard..she let me go..that one time..lol

We used to use J'achete (Pronounced y-ah-shit) when we were angry (actually means I buy.), and Peux j'aller à la piscine (pronounced poo-szhe-allay a la piss-ine) to go to the bathroom (actually means can I go to the pool).

Absolutely.....I already edited that part out. right after I hit submit, it dawned on me that it was dinde. It was a long night and a short sleep last night. I stopped last night around 330, and I had to get up at 7 with my daughter. I am a bit sleep deprived.

...and yes, I love to get corrected when I am wrong. Knowledge is power.

I will now that you have told me to. I generally try not to on this site because so many people do get so freaking bent out of shape about being wrong.

Way I see it, no one is right 100% of the time, except for maybe Ron Paul. I would sooner know the right answer for next time then float through life looking foolish.

Well, I would never guess. Your english is better than most on here, and it is their native tongue.

Sorry about the UEFA match today. Russia kinda put a hurting on you today, but I did see that your U-21 team advanced to the championship on penalties. Good for the youngsters. 2 goals in the last 10 against a very strong Austria team was very impressive indeed.

Isn't that funny, too? They teach you how to order beans and to ask stupid fucking questions like Donde está la biblioteca? As if anyone that goes to Mexico is ever going to ask where the library is.

They should teach you important stuff like....how much are cigarettes? where is the drug store? Where can I find a doctor to get a penecillan shot?
