People have been doing it at a young age for thousands of years. What social norms exist today that have changed that, have also been the fount of such ignorance that there are people in COLLEGE who are unaware of contraceptives. Though I agree that mental maturity levels and intent must be taken into consideration to address the issues of manipulation and abuse, I do not think that a concept as abstract as "love" should be attached to a function of species survival. Love and sex can be mutual, and mutually beneficial, but are by no means interdependent and it is the concept of love that greatly complicates the issues surrounding juvenile sex because of the psychological impact of love, betrayal, deception, etc. Sex is fun, it feels good, and, if the stigmas could be removed to the point of transparency where open education can be given, should be enjoyed (responsibly) by those with an intent to pursue. That does not include rape, predation and coercion! Of course, we shouldn't forget that upon the magical age of 18 we are all bestowed with gifts of great and equal knowledge, maturity and judgment.

:D ya I didnt pay attention when learning about it in grade 4.....and I was 13 like uh...17 years ago :) I knew when I was 16 the consept of sex that it took more then heavy petting ;)

Lol! They don't teach it in grade 4 anymore. They teach puberty that's it. I wouldn't know if it's in 7th, because I was online schooled, but I think they did.

Coming from a land where child marriages are prevalent I would say its absolutely disgusting and violation of puberty as the girl is not yet grown and mature to have a family. Moreover the bone structure is not yet ready and this could mean deformities for the girl should she have to undergo forced childbirth.
With regard to boys, they mature a lot later than a girl and for them it would only be a game and nothing more. But with those games come consequences and those consequences mean responsibilities as they are babies that are born, another life.
I would say put the children who are playing with sex at thirteen into counselling and training and arrest the parents for not teaching their children about birds and bees. Its high time parents pay the price for not bringing up the teenagers and kids properly and then saying it openly the teens of today are going to dogs, the world is so apathetic etc. Its more the fact the we as parents need to open our eyes and train our children on what is right and wrong rather than giving it to the school and saying here teach. I know personally I was groomed with values starting from birth that it just became second nature with constant reconditioning.

Sorry, am not supportive of 13 year old having sex and I know as a mother I have taught my son that it is not okay to be with a girl in bed at a young and when the time is right you will be ready for it and you will know when it is, if you are unsure, ask your parents. My son and myself have very open conversations and I know he will never hide that side from me.
