I loved my guinea pig.they certainly do squeal Lizzy, It used to amaze me that it knew my husband was biking from work before he had reached the drive way...and yes it was because he always picked a bunch of dandilion leaves or grass on his way home..but I said I will get another guinea when my lovely rabbit goes to the big hutch in the sky :)

We had some beautiful big lop eared rabbits, they`d run around the garden all day + go in + out of their hutch. In the spring when the grass is new it upset their tummies, their rear ends got a bit messy + they got that fly strike, it`s an awful thing, the poor rabbits became so ill, we`d never heard of it until it happened. One of the reasons you should`nt feed them Lettuce, Cabbage is much better for them.

Oh Lizzy yes our lop got fly strike too..I didn't know till my Ben came running in and said there was something crawling out of him.I rushed to the vets but they couldn't save him.I felt so guilty.I never got another lop we had dwarf netherlands after that.a sight I will never forget.

Yes it is an awful sight, the poor things must have been in agony, ours also died. We also has a little Netherlands dwarf, he was so tame, he used to come into the house + lie beside the boys on the floor watching TV !!, he`d sit beside you on the lawn in the sunshine. We got some new neighbours, the next morning we found the rabbit dead, their retriever had come over the 5ft fence + ripped the little rabbit apart !!, then another went missing, they tried to say it must have been a fox or an owl !!.

Yes it was, we were all upset, i was so angry as well, the new neighbours were nonplussed !!!. I`ve never seen owls or fox`s around our neighbourhood. Your avatar looks like the Horse Shoe Pass near Llangollen ?. I live in N.Wales, where are you ?.

Hi Debs, i live 4 miles from Mold, we have some nice countryside, i can see Moel Famau from my garden. I`d love to live by the sea. I spent a week in Penbrokeshire last year, it was lovely, i prefer the south to the north. Conway is nice, but all along the N.Wales coast there`s a lot of problems. Where are you ?.

Hi Lizzy, I am on the shropshire boarder with rural staffordshire up the road, I love it as I have Ironbridge not far and Bridgenorth,Newport and shrewsbury as my local towns and with the wrekin as my outlook, I to am right in the middle of the countryside surrounded by fields and woods.
I lived in Pembrokeshire for for a while in Lamphey, beautiful part of wales.
I agree with the problems of the north coast, I know I shouldn't say it really, but Rhyll and prestatyn are looking very sad and really need to have some funds put back in to the poor places.but it seems that this is happening all around our coastal towns, cheap foreign holidays have taken the revenue away..:(

All along there, Rhyl, Prestatyn etc has so many problems, one being a Big Drug problem, it`s very rough, my son was teaching at a school there a few years ago, a dreadful place !!. I believe Llandudno is very run down now, which is a shame they still have the Victorian shops on the main st, it would be a sacrilege if they went, Penmenmaur [not sure of spelling ] also has the Victorian canopies over the shops but they were in a state of disrepair. The cheap hols abroad have affected all our coastal areas but they should lower their prices, holidays here are so expensive !!

Ah yes, Llandudno..we always took the kids there and I could take Ben on my own when he was little, as I felt safe...but we went there last year and its got very shabby, dirty streets etc, but what we noticed after about 7 o'clock pm it got noisy and full of kids, as all the little resteraunts have turned into wine bars..its taken the sereneness out of the place..and Colwyn Bay, is a dead town, not nice at all.

Yes i agree with you, such a shame, it get worse i believe the further along the coast you go, it seems Bangor has real problems with disorder on the streets, they are trying to bring in a curfew for under 16s, they should introduce one for under 18s. I think S. Wales is a much better option for a holiday or days out if you`re near enough.

Used to go to monmouthshire quite a bit,and to the Royal Forrest of Dean..then when I worked in Gloucestershire it was on my doorstep, it is lovely, its just as easy to go through Hereford to go to south Wales..But a bit far for days out, but I think that will be the sea for us from now on.
The curfew should be for 18yr olds..the only place I have been to lately that hasnt been spoiled by rowdiness is Aberdovey, and I think thats because it the sailing centre, so attracts a different kind of youngster.

Something similar happened to my neighbour, he had a wee terrier killed by a new neighbours dog, it was really sad as the wee dog was his wifes and she had just passed away not long before that happened. I live in Northern Ireland, photo was taken in Donegal.

I have a little Cairn Terrier + have experienced some really frightening times when i`ve been out with him, big dogs tend to go after little ones. My dog is like a wild beast if one comes anywhere near now. He`s also very protective + Adores Children.

Thats awful Lizzy..must have been distressing to see your rabbit in that state !!..its a worse nightmare..horrible...We had to raise the hutch when the pigs were in there, as I heard a commotion one night and there was a stoat gnawing away at the hutch..nasty things they are..10 more minutes and it would have been through !.that was one time I was glad the pigs squealed
P.s I got my rabbit injected for fly strike.that was the first thing I did.

We visited a rescue centre on Sunday, as you do. I was amazed at the animals people actually think are pets....chickens, pheasants even a turkey that was too big for the lounge!! They do take liberties with these places i feel, the owner was telling us that when she opens up in the mornings, often animals are left outside by the gate !!! Anyway, you have just hurt the feelings of thousands of pigs...oink :))

Ha ha..I would never eat pork again if I had a pig..they are very intelligent animals so wouldnt want to be outwitted by a pet :)..My brother in law had 2 pigs but the public used them as a vegi recycling bin as they were in a field on the way to the primary school.the kids loved them but.they got to big !! unfortunatly became agressive too.so he had to get rid..
