in the 33 years ive been at my job i did once because i couldnt get the day off i wanted. different dept back then. now i have better bosses and pretty much get what i want when i want most of the time. also i left work early because i had gotten an e-mail from my son in iraq that someof the guys in his troop were killed. that really upset me, and i left work and took off the next day but i asked for that day off. rough time.

i care too much about my work record. we have people that have been there as many years as i have. they know exactly how many points they have against them and then when those points go away--BOOM!!! there they go calling off again. i have asked them what ifsomething bad really happened where you would need those days off?? well it happened to a couple of my co-workers and then they wanted people to donate their cto to them. i said no way cause i dont feel sorry for someone when they abuse their time like that they do it to themselves.

Nope. Thought about it numerous times but always ended up taking vacation day or leave without pay. Sad thing to my memory is when I worked for civil service overseas many years ago and I had to have a little bit of surgery and didn't have enough sick leave, so I had to take all the sick leave and all my vacation hours and then a little bit of leave without pay. Ironically, a few years later when I quit to go stateside, I turned in 396 unused sick leave hours, and that was before they gave you monetary compensation for unused sick hours. Boo-hoo. That's me, always a day late and a dollar short. :)

I pretty much liked all my jobs. Also as a nurse, I knew that if I didn't show up it would just that much harder on everyone else, so I never called in sick unless I was actualy ill.

I have worked for 52 years and in that time I was out one day and that was when I went into the Hosp. for a kidney stone and back to work the next day.

Nope, but this year for the first time, I found myself taking "mental health days." I was assigned to work this past year with Junior High behavior kids. I'll leave it there......

Of course and I will be doing it again Thursday. I check in 1st thing from my home computer or Ipad, then run around getting my chores done, (I hate doing chores on weekends) then come back home, check in, see all is well and check out. Having said this I have gone into work feeling like crap also because I had to be in the office, but I don't like the idea of spreading my germs, so I try stay to myself and keep the tissues and sanitizer around. Come to think of it, Ive actually gotten more work done remotley than I have being in the office most of the time. hmmm!

Although I've taken Leave/Vacation days when my children were ILL ..
