The fan quit working on my last computer and I got the death screen accompanied by the message "No operating system detected". I highly suspect that my motherboard got an abortion.

my old computer used to do that literally every 10 minutes. but i did use it til it absolutely stopped working. it had over 40 viruses and was completely taken over. not even my computer-genius brother could fix it. plus, it was 11 years old. it had seen better days.

No I haven't. My old computer stopped working for a different reason, but I can't remember what it is now. It was years ago. Then I got a new one, in addition to getting my laptop, and neither of them have acted up since.

THE BOD! Have I seen it? I used to repair PCs for a living long ago so we're like best friends. If you get it on your PC, it is often a hardware failure (overheated parts are a common cause).

that's why I use Linux for anything like that; I use Mac apps and they work on ANY pc(the newer the better) you'd be surprised what a HP or a Toshiba can do with Linux
