Have you ever seen a rattle snake?

Nah, I white knuckled it behind its head. Then I threw it into a burlap bag. Maybe the dumbest thing I've ever done. Lesson learned, be careful of what you say once you have had too many drinks.

Walking alone in the desert of Tucson, AZ, on a spiritual walk, I almost stepped right on and it didn't move except for enough to let me know it was alive until like a goofball I finally decided to walk in that direction again to see if it would move.

Yes I was in college at the time and I was walking towards my car and there is was a huge big fat Rattle coiled up enjoying its sun bathing moment. I respectful walked quickly to my car since it was a couple of feet away from me and spanned off as quickly as I could; LOL!

I want to though!

seen i almost stepped on one after sunbathing 100meters from my car and 1 hour away form a hospital

My neighbors dog got bit on the nose by one,

apparently somewhere CLOSE to my cabin, cuz she didn't wander ~

Never seen one HERE, myself though, but I keep my eyes, and ears open all the time !

FYI, when folks around here say the word 'snake', they mean of the rattly nature...

We do have bullsnakes, and blacksnakes, but since they're not dangerous,

I guess the 'locals' don't consider 'em 'snakes'... lol, and YUK ~

ALL THAT SAID, the one time I DID see a rattler,

was in Corpus Christi, Texas, 6 ft. long,

stretched out across the path,

'tween me an'the beach...


Fortunately, for my mom, I saw it first ~

She'dda had a heart attack, had SHE been in front of me...

But I damn near killed her, when I spun around ta get away from it !


Went immediately to the 'Rangers' Office, ta tell 'em 'bout it ~

They came out, shot the damn thing, and another dude came an'took it away...

Kinda freaked me out all over again, when I seen 'em pull the gun out and shoot it ;(

I just wanted 'em to know it was there, maybe chase it off the path, not necessarily kill it ;p

Also picked one up as well as a Cottton Mouth..... There are several deadly snakes in the US, but If you leave them alone they will usually leave you alone

Some body with low IQ actually brought one on the grounds of the place where I used to work. It was in a cage but I am sure that if management had found out about it the employee would have been gone like the wind.

A baby rattler a few years back. I cut it's head off and threw it in the fire i was burning.

I really remember when I was walking along a trail up in the hills, and came upon a big timber rattler sunning himself in the middle of the trail.
I had a gun, but I just went around him.

On several occasions,In Pennsylvania, Texas, and New York.

We don't have to worry about those around here too much. What we have to watch out for is water moccasins and copperheads. Those copperheads are hard as hell to see sometimes.

I was picking peas as a boy one summer when I came across a pigmy rattler. I reached down and moved a leaf to get to a pea and there it was. It was literally inches from my hand and was rattling it’s ass off. Why I wasn’t bitten I’ll never know. Now I have a real phobia when it come to rattle snakes and since I live in Florida, I see them all the time…

I am a herpetologist ,It makes me sad when people kill ANY reptiles ,i have a healthy respect for "hot" herps (venomous) but they don't scare me. I have one at our zoo that LOVES me ,he is a black tailed rattle snake (crotalus molossus) He is chubby ,looks like beanie baby!

They are about.... They are pretty mild mannered critters. Mind you, I wouldn't toy with them.

Nearly bitten by one while hiking in The Pinnacles National Monument.

I've seen a slow worm, they're about as harmless as a snake gets..

You can't go outside without seeing or hearing a rattler here. I killed on earlier this year in February. He didn't rattle, either, and was supposed to be in hibernation that time of the year.

I have seen a King Snake tho.

King snakes ROCK ,they are very mild mannered. Have you ever seen a yellow phase?

Yeah it attacked my brother. Reared up and pinned him against the house.
