I have helped a bird whose feet were stuck in gum in the middle of the highway and it would have been run over. I threw a towel over it and pulled it free. I helped an orphaned squirrel who was sitting next to it's dead mother while I was on vacation. I hand fed him and raised him until he was able to take care of himself. His name was Raliegh after the town I found him in. I am forever rescuing various small critters that find their way into my swimming pool. So yes, I do what I can to help whom ever or what ever, we exist in this world together.

I rescued a bobcat that somehow got stuck on a fence. It ended up stealing the beef jerky I had in my bag though. lol I named him Roku, but later an idiot redneck shot him and left him bleeding to death in the woods...it was so sad...

I try to help any animal in distress I see, if possible. I am fortunate enough to be on good terms with people who have a Federal license for wildlife rescues, and they have been wonderful, accepting the creatures I bring to them, and helping ME help them, if I can.

I rescued a baby skunk. The poor thing was covered in maggots and mites. The maggots actually ate holes in the poor little things skin. I got some Frontline spray and killed the mites and maggots and feed it cat food till it was well enough to go back outside. I think he lived people seen evidence that he did.

Just recently, I was zooming around the corner, comming home from work, and right before me, a hawk was swooping down to take out a squirrel frozen with fear in the middle of the road, the hawk suddenly saw me, and veered, swooping up over my windshield,... the little squirrel scurried up a tree, safe to live and play another day! : ),

It's no big deal. We wear our boots and double layer pants, pick them up with snake jaws or a rod and loop, but them in a thick sided wooden box and haul them out to the desert and let'em go.

The REAL fun ones were coral snakes,
http://www.redorbit.com/media... snakes and beaded lizards/Gila monsters.
Our fire stations were on the outskirts of Tucson AZ.

Yeah. We only ever had to kill one rattler. He wasn't going to be taken alive and would hide in places where people would be close to or reaching into, so he had to go. Too bad, he was a beautiful snake.
kill rattler alive hide places people close reaching beautiful snake
Mammals, like coyotes, bobcats and the like were referred to county animal control.

Yeah. Their mouths are very small, and even large ones can only bite you like between fingers and such. Still, we wore our fire gloves and went gingerly in harm's way. We got a call of a coral snake in someone's kitchen. We arrived to find an old guy trying to cut a Scarlet King snake in half with a butter knife. We rescued it.
OTOH, we got a call of a Coral Snake in the deck of a swimming pool valve pit. The very situation where he could get you when you went to turn the valve. The guy was lucky to notice it.

Somewhat. I helped get a bird out from being tangled in one of those six-pack plastics when I was a kid, and since I'm the only person I know with the number for animal control in my phone, I've ended up calling them when I run into injured squirrels on campus. I have never taken in and nurtured a wild animal though. I would not be opposed to doing so, but it has never been needed.

I used a large tree limb to push a baby rattlesnake off the road so it wouldn,t get run over. It rattled and hissed at me the whole time but I got it safely off the road. Don,t ask me why.

It used be quite usual for my family and I to rescue animals when we lived on the farm. Birds (mostly lorikeets and kookaburras), kangaroos, koalas, possums, the occasional python (the poisonous snakes lost their heads), I think we rescued a platypus once.

Most definitely, its almost a hobby to me. I appreciate animals far more than human and feel they need more care and respect that humans. They lack hatred, greed, and the stupidity humans posses. I have taken care of mostly birds more than anything. I volunteer at the Humane society along with my girlfriend and have been there for quite a while caring for so many animals and giving them as best of lives that I can give them. Save and respect any animal that are in need of it without inducing more harm to them whenever you can.

Thank you for respecting that as well. I had a lady come in crying one time saying it was nice what I do at the humane society, and that she wishes she had time to do it as well. She said she likes to see kids like me actually caring and not looking for rewards all the time. Its kinda corny but I feel the reward of other animals well being.

Every year me and my parents always rescue turtles from getting killed on the road that are traveling to the other side of the highway looking for new places to go, and re-release them out at my parents place.. Our family are animal based lovers, but just last year our dog Gjoa the malmute dog brought home a baby bunny very gently carrying back to our house, we helped the little fella by feeding him or her we couldn't tell til he/she was ready to be able to go back out in the wild again. It was so cute, I had to revoke the name Thumper and switched his name to Socks cause that baby lived in a warmth of a sock.. But in the end it helps ya realize that life is very precious!
