I was also taught by my folks to defend myself against assault by either men or women and had 3 older and 1 younger sister and lots of male cousins. I just grew fast and was blessed in that I was not overtly a bully by nature but I sure did not allow any to push me about and had some fights I lost and some I won.

But I have been punched in the gut by one. I swear that probably could have killed me because it knocked the wind out of my lungs and I couldn't get my breath back. Luckily, one of my friends at the time knew what to do though. He put a finger in the middle of my chest and one at the small of my back, made arch my body backward, and made it so I could breathe again.
