I have flown in both and have jumped out of a Charlie 130 on the end of a parachute. I have flown on helecopters to and scaled down ropes......I have also jumped out of barrage balloons on the end of a parachute. Yep, been there, done it and wore the t-shirt.
I actually took my first steps on a plane. I've flown a few times in my adult life and I hated it. I hyperventilated once on take off and the barf bag came in handy. You really do have to breath into a bag. Not a fan of flying.
I am a lucky duck. I was allowed to go see the cockpit on a flight from Newark to Belfast before it took off and again when it landed. Awesome. I am thinking of trying one of those little gyrocopts if it ever stops raining and blowing a gale. Send us some sun peeps :)
My very first flight was on a 747 going non-stop to Hawaii, had never flown before, was scared out of my mind, and I didn't go to the bathroom the whole flight. I set on that plane like Ellie Mae Cllampet from the Beverly Hillbillys. Some told me that taking off would be the worse, and others said that landing would be the worse, fortunately for me neither was bad for me, I came through like a trooper. The Captain came back and checked on me when he heard that I was a first time flyer.
My first plane trip was to Hawaii with my husband, a baby and a 3 year old. Flight was at night so it was like landing in a unknown place. We lived there 2 1/2 years while my husband was in the Marine Corp.
You were blessed, when I landed, I saw this narrow strip of concrete with the pacific ocean on both sides, that was a scary sight. My daughter and her husband was stationed in Hawaii for five years, he was a Military Police Officer in the Air Force. It was beautiful there, I had the pleasure of visiting twice.
I miss the Beverly Hillbilly's and how neat is it to have the captain come say Hi on your flight? Who was flying the plane while he was chin wagging with you? LOL
That's a good question, as freaked out as I was that didn't even register in my mind. The flight attendants and the whole crew was very nice to me. I like flying, but I am still a little queezy about flying. I wonder why they don't have the Beverly Hillbilly's re-runs on, they were funny, especially when granny was tipsy.
helicopter: once, was really cool
