If you have what's it like up there, is it worth the extra cost, are you pampered?

it was pretty good; the seats were pretty big, the pillows were actually pillows, not just folded up napkins, the blankets were big enough, and i cant remember if we got food or not... it was a few years ago.

When flying overseas, it is the only way to go. Sure, it's a bit expensive, but well worth the cost.

As a young Private in the Army back in the 1960's when I was flying Military Stand-by. I thought I had died and gone to heaven, but of course all the stewardess were beautiful back then, and they were totally devoted to serving their passengers.

Only as the result of a generous upgrade when I was flying Singapore airlines in uniform while on active duty. It was my introduction to tiramisu. Yum!

It was worth the upgrade in the 60's, but today? Not really.

During the last five years prier to my retirement, I traveled extensively with the Company. I would leave my home on Monday morning, and after flying all week, would not arrive home until Thursday evening or Friday afternoon. It didn't take long before I reached “Platinum Elite” status on North West Airlines (I always flew out of Memphis). Along with that status was the automatic upgrade to first class.

When you spend that much time on an Airplane, first class is the only way to fly.

Once, on United. Waste of money, but I think it was just that particular airline. I was expecting a screen in front of my seat, better food, yadda yadda. Just more room to move. I could have purchased the middle seat instead and saved a bundle.

IF we were to fly commercial we probably would. The only flying that we would do now would be in a sport class plane, with a BRS chute. brs chute

I just upgraded my husband, myself, my daughter and son-in-law to first class on our upcoming trip to Florida in April. Quite honestly I am sick of being squeezed into a row with three people breathing all over me.
We flew first class once beforedue to a problem in the row we were assigned. It was heaven. So much more leg room, free drinks and if you fly at the right time you get a meal that really is worth eating. Yep we're finished with coach class.

Several times but now Comfort Economy gives most of the benefits at a far lower price. The last time we flew first class was Fairbanks, Alaska to San Juan, Puerto Rico and it cost only $500 more than economy would have. WELL WORTH the cost for 6 long flights.

Yes, but I worked for Delta at the time. Wifey and I flew Atlanta/Madrid round trip for about $40 each. It's the only way to fly long distance.

Strangely it was a portal city for us. Final destination was Malaga. Loved the beaches and food, but the skeeters have air-to-air missiles. We also visited Seville, Segovia, and the castle where Columbus got his sailing orders...stood in the very room.

But the flight home gets me over 8,000 miles going each way. A few more of these and I'll be due for an upgrade. I ain't payin', but if they offer it to me, I'll gladly take it.

Once I got 'upgraded' because the airline had screwed up.

It didn't seem like 1st class is worth all the extra it costs, not for a measly two more inches of leg room.

The seats are a lot better than coach. Is it worth the price? I suppose that depends on how much money you make or who is paying.
