Dreams of flying are among the most common dreams, along with falling and losing teeth. They're certainly the most enjoyable of the three. For some people, flight is more than a dream. Pilots, adrenaline junkies, and inventors have all had occasion to defy gravity and take to the skies. But we wanted to ask the public about extreme flights of fancy -- superpowers and jetpacks, flying pigs and floating food. Be sure to take our 6-question Quick Poll to fill out the entire survey. Oh, and don't try any of this at home!

I just have those lame dreams where I bundle myself for a goodnight sleep, I close my eyes, I suddenly start feeling my body fall off the bed, I scramble about throwing my hands around to grab whatever to prop me up like a crazy person escaping disaster, then I open my eyes to find myself still ON the stinkin' bed with that darn morning sun already poking me. Like, are you kidding me? Those 8 frightening seconds were actually hours? What a rip-off.

These +600 people have it good, man.

The tag that says "I'd Rather Be Flying" used to hang on my car.
Now it's on the nose of my plane. (...Poor hangar-queen!) *Sniff!*

I believe I had a Past Life dream of flying and the reason I believe this is because of the clarity of what I was seeing in the dream.

I was in the cockpit of a B-25 plane and I could see the instrument panel so clearly and I just knew how to fly the plane. The thing is - is that I was not even born when those planes were used and I have never flown and never will fly in a plane in this present life.

Over the years I have had other dreams of WW ll and the one thing they all have in-common is that it`s my mind but I`m in a male body that always look the same.

Yes, i even dreamt of parachuting out of a plane, as well as skydiving, the problem is i'm afraid of heights, i used to be so bad that when riding in the car over bridges, i had to close my eyes. Thank goodness for heights in video games, in having to have my character jump, and climb etc... I've gotten much better.

I've had a pilot's license since I was seventeen but can't *stand* driving over those bridges.
...That's partly because despite the popular expression I know cars can *never* become "Airborne". It's simple physics. You may as well strap a steel I-beam to your shoulders and jump.

I can fly even when I'm not in a dream. All you have to do is believe that you can do it 100%, and without ANY doubt whatsoever.

In my dream world I can fly. Every time. It's physically demanding and makes no sense, I have to pump my legs as if I'm running in the air. The faster the pumping, the higher I fly.

When I was very young, when I was sixteen I learned to fly and earned my private pilots license before I had a drivers license. To this day even tho I have worked as a professional pilot I still dream of flying.

I've always had fairly lucid and vivid dreams since childhood, and a couple of decades ago I began practicing "dream control" as a way to counter PTSD induced nightmares. I eventually got good enough to begin flying, though decent took a couple of years to not wake up to (the falling sensation). Now, no more nightmares, and I fly around in about a third of my dreams, complete with stunts, no aircraft required, lol. Proof that sometimes good things can come out of bad experiences, if one is patient enough!

In my dreams my flying was always sort of low and slow. When I bought a skydive for my husband from a hot air balloon and went along for the ride....the flight was the exact same feeling when we flew around, being carried by the wind looking for a place to land. I was so-o- cool. Gotta' do that again.

I still want to try paragliding. If you haven't tried going up in an ultra light, you've gotta' try it. I think you'll like. Also, you may like going up in a glider........

Loads of places up and down the coast here and probably a few in the Sierras where you can hook up for a tandem ride. I remember thinking about ultralights since I wouldn't need a pilots license. I may just look into that again. Thanks.

My paragliding instructor owns a glider. He and his wife do competitions. Actually he flies just about anything and does any wind related sport. He's a pretty neat guy with tons of stories.
