Dreams of flying are among the most common dreams, along with falling and losing teeth. They're certainly the most enjoyable of the three. For some people, flight is more than a dream. Pilots, adrenaline junkies, and inventors have all had occasion to defy gravity and take to the skies. But we wanted to ask the public about extreme flights of fancy -- superpowers and jetpacks, flying pigs and floating food. Be sure to take our 6-question Quick Poll to fill out the entire survey. Oh, and don't try any of this at home!

Yes I have dreamed that I started flapping my arms and was actually flying. The irony is that these are some of the dreams in which I am least likely to figure out it is just a dream even though they are the most unbelievable. It is very dissapointing to wake up and realise that it is just a dream. I have also dreamed of loosing teeth or having rotten teeth and in those instances I am really relieved to wake up and realise that it was just a dream and that my teeth are healthy. Another thing that has happened when I was dreaming is I realise I am dreaming. In some cases I even remember the start of the dream and remember becoming paralised at the begining of the dream and then realise that I can decide to move without physically moving.

I just hate how when it gets to the best part I either find my mom yelling at me to wake up or I fall out of bed...

When I was going to highschool I had not one but like... 4-5 weeks straight, nightly of not just flying but this whole alternate world that was fantasy in nature... I had it in journal form when I got to writing but that series of dreams never would have made a good storie to sell.

But something about it... I don't know. it was freedom for a time then it faded, though unlike most dreams I /remembered/ those clearly.

Surprisingly, no. I cannot recall a time that I dreamed of flying or falling. Maybe I had one and don't remember it, but I honestly don't think so.

I have always had the desire to fly and had the chance when I was ten years old my moms boyfriend took me up in his plane and turned the controls over to me and I flew next to a bald eagle. Pretty cool huh?

Whenever I feel stressed out or am passing through a difficult moment in my life I dream of flying.I can physically feel myself start to run and get get lighter until my feet leave the ground. It is the most freeing feeling ,when you feel all that stress and negativity leave you,and you fly, feeling the air against your face.I think its when your brain decides you had enough and tries to give you some relief,if only for a little while.

I have had out of body experiences first time was when I had an on the job electrocution and was legally dead for eight minutes! It is a real trippy feeling because you can remember everything you saw while out of your body but it's not really physically flying or dreaming!

The first time I ever had a flying dream, I had a pair of pale pink wings and I was flying with a flock of seagulls against a dawn sky. The second most memorable flying dream I ever had was one where I was on a broomstick, like a witch. It was amazingly exhilarating. :D

    It's been a lifetime dream.
But after saving all my life to do it the economy tanked.
I may soon be too old to even try.
Somebody up there is having a good laugh.

When I had cancer I dreamed I could fly/float by just raising my arms. Then I got so good I just had to think about it to go Mary Poppins, no more arm raising. It was the most wonderful feeling I have had in my life. I am cancer free 17 years and never have had that dream again.

I have "flown" many times, usually thru "Astral Projection", and these flights haven't been confined to this planet...several to other "planets" which I couldn't recognize, taking trips around the rim of the Galaxy, very interesting...

Actually, floating like Pasquale in the Rose is Rose comic strip. Only I don't have a ship, more like sitting with my legs crossed then levitating. I kept getting better at it in my dreams over the years until I was essentially able to fly. It all had to do with mind over matter and when I started getting too high (10 ft.) I would worry about what would happen if I lost my concentration. I had to concentrate so hard at first that I would wake up all sweaty!

flying dreams usually indicate an escape from reality. Healthy escape? maybe maybe not.

Flew through a storm once saving lives. I heard though that people who have happy flying dreams, Usually find great stress release in doing so. UP UP And AWAYYYY

Yes, flying dreams are the best dreams I've ever had. I encourage them. The spirit is really free. The next best are train ride dreams, and then bus dream, but they are fraught with some problems, like schedule mix-ups.
