Yes. It just happened to me for the first time. Reading the comments of other people, I came across one by someone with whom I have become friends. We are ideologically at opposite ends of the spectrum, politically, but I respect this person and realized my comment about Obama would be very insulting. So I opted to gutlessly erase my comment, which is sort of dishonest and I really hope I get some good feedback.

    I think what I think.

My opinion isn't put out there to make others feel more comfortable, or to agree with me.

In stating what I think, I'm not generally trying to offend anyone... although that is often the result, because many people dislike opinions which differ from their own.

That being said; I don't think it's being 'dishonest' to consider how one's comments will affect others, or to decide that discretion is indeed 'the better part of valor.'

You are most welcome, I think one of the biggest hurts to both the Republicans and the Democrats, is that they no longer have a intercessor, that person who steps up to the plate and says okay what we're doing is about the country, about the American people. This is what both sides had in Ted Kennedy. If the Republicans had someone within their party that thought like you, I doubt seriously if they would have been labeled the party of No, and they'd have someone of substance as the fore runner. I use to work with a man at the electric company, and this man was so awesome, he was our General Manager/Superintendent, but he also was a mechanic and a licensed lawyer. If you went to him with a problem that concerned someone else, he never took your word for it, no matter how close he was to you or to the other party. We'd see him walking around and observing the situation. Then he'd call both parties and present his resolution and there would be peace restored in the work place. I don't know you personally, but I feel that you are a man of character and fairness.

I have edited comments to clarify my position better and I have also deleted comments a few times when I typed before thinking but it wasn't to save anyone's feelings. If a REAL friend or ally has a problem with me then they will make an honest attempt to take me in full context and not judge me by any one or two statements that I might have written a little too quickly or crudely... And the rest can simply bite my shiny metal azz.

I personally made it a rule for myself to never write any insulting statements or generalized words so I dont really know, but to say this and post it really presents how you were considerate, I dont see it as dishonest, because saying your opinion can be said to either present your opinion or to convince someone of something, by removing your insulting comment you might just do both.
