Broke a bone in my foot taking packages out of my car. My ffot hit the rise from the driveway to the garage floor I heard a snap and I went down for the count! It required a plate and several pins to repair. How about you and what's your story?

I Broke My ________ When I________

when I was a about 7 or 8, My Mom and I were living in a little shotgun apartment which was conveniently located within walking distance of both my school and her job (being a block and a half away) One summer afternoon I had been riding my bike in the alley behind the place when I noticed the wildflowers growing along the fence, so I picked a big bunch for my Mom and took them upstairs, there was a bunch of sweet violets and some daisies which I was sure she'd like and some dandelions which I've always thought were beautiful myself.
I came in the door off the kitchen and shouted to mom that I needed a glass (but not what for.) she told me there should be some on the sink, not remembering that she had already put them in the cabinet. Here's the dumb part. not wanting to spoil my surprise I pulled a chair up to the sink and climbed up. Unfortunately (since we hadn't been living there long) I couldn't remember which side of the sink the glasses were on and mounted the wrong side. In tightrope walking to the other, I fell landing on the face of my gigantic Charlie Brown baseball mitt watch, and broke both bones in my forearm in 3 place cleanly through (Wish I still had the x-rays).

The second one is shorter and simpler, a friend of mine and I had been out celebrating in Reno NV a little dance club called footlights and when we left at around 4:30 am, I KNEW I was too drunk to drive, so I pitched him the keys after he said he was good to drive, not thinking about the fact that he had matched me drink for drink all night.
We were almost back to Fallon NV in fact in a little town that has a population of 8 called Hazen, when the road turned slowly to the right, but the car having no one to steer it since we were both asleep, went straight. We ended up on our wheels about 20 feet from the road. The report said we had flipped numerous times and were quite lucky to be alive. I came away with a broken collarbone, which temporarily (thank God) paralyzed my right arm. there were bone slivers all up and down my forearm and the radial head of my elbow had the cap busted off of it but it was still in place so required no surgery or casting.
Short version of the story nine months on limited duty and very nearly a medical discharge from the Navy.

And I sprained my ankle pretty bad once as well.
I couldn't walk on it for 3 weeks.
