It depends on the person’s intentions. When I was in high school, when I would get whistled at or get other unwanted attention, usually the guy was being creepy and rude. When you are in school, you can’t always choose who you spend time with. (Which really sucks sometimes.) But, now that I’m older and out of school, most of the men I know are respectful of me and would prefer to give compliments with words rather than whistling and other stuff.

Exacty, sometimes it's a compliment, other times guys say it's a compliment to cover up the fact that they have bad intentions. But, there are a lot of really nice respectful guys out there.

I have been whistled at before and I've gotta say, I don't have a problem with it. Wish it would happen more often (assuming that those doing the whistling are women. Otherwise, it's just plain uncomfortable).

Yes it is called street harassment if it's done by a stranger. It is not complimentary to most women. It has never made me feel good about myself- only awkward, uncomfortable or scared. Now I have a few retorts ready for the next time it happens.

actualy get numbers all the time :P never do anything with em tho. dont want a girl thats that easy. but it is nice making em smile and testing if i got it :P i think its the pick up line that realy gets em when they actualy stop. i like trying out diff ones when im outa town but my fav to use for sum reason is... thats just my practice flirting on the street. like i said i never persue those. i just like making girls smile and see if they would go for me. thats it tho. when its sum1 i actualy plan to pursue anything with its normaly sum1 i know very well already. if i dont tho then its always sum1 that sparked my interest because of maby a view they hav or sumthing like that sumthing thatl get me to like there personality. when that happens i generaly start using my reading skills and relate to the person as much as possible til they like me then i ask em out if i pick up any signs of interest. thats how i acualy pick up on girls when im trying :p

I only pursue a relationship with people I connect with on a deeper level and have known for at least a couple weeks. If they give a sign they are interested, then I ask them out. If not, I keep things at a friendly level. : )
