Numerous times. I worked 36 hours straight when I was with the fire department when we had a train derailment. I also pulled a 24 hour shift when I worked at a small rural hospital and my relief called out sick.

Yes I once worked on a very demanding project that required everyone to work until it was done. Because of my expertise in the project I needed to be there for 48 hours before I finally went home. Very long time indeed.

I work graveyard and sometimes it is hard to sleep when the sun is shining, the phone ringing, the neighbors mow their lawns. Sometimes I lay down, with my eyes shut before going to work and can not sleep. Grave shift messes up your whole life.
Also when I went to Rio. I worked 12 hours a day, packed, cleaned house, got to Rio, and my friend to us to Carnival parties that lasted all night. We went out for soupa in the morning, when the cocks crowed. That was the worst trip I ever took because we had no sleep.

I really understand the misery of working the graveyard shift. I did it for ten years and don't know how I lived through it. I worked for the Colorado State Department of Revenue in the computer room and sometimes I would fall asleep on my feet for an instant. It practically made alcoholics out of me and all the peiple I worked with. I don't drink any more though.

i think anyone who's been a parent has experienced this.
Sleepless nights for baby = sleepless nights for mama.

There's also been work related times when my double shifts or 2nd jobs get in the way of my sleeping pattern. Going from 1 job at 545am until 1am at the other job didn't leave much room for sleep. Thankfully at the time it wasn't 5 days a week & didn't last long before I found something else that worked better.

The majority of my stay-ups were with a bit of help, Other times were sleep overs. Most recently I was just sick, made a nice breakfast for everyone Christmas morning though : )
I don't particularly like staying up, because I start to see trails of light and fast movement...
