Three times. I highly recommend it! The people are great and the countryside especially in the fall is spectacular. In my opinion Kyoto is a must see as it gives you a flavor of what historical feudal Japan was like.

I love the old architecture, the food was great, the people are really polite and there is so much to see. I didn't get to see even a fraction of what I want too. Hopefully I will go back some day. That is very possible because when my son finishes college he may move there.

I'd only go to rural parts of Japan. Okinawa maybe. I have no desire to visit Tokyo. Thats way too many people for my taste.
