There's a Reason why I don't date often ..
Do NOT want to be set up either ..
(and am proud to say .. I get to the date site myself .. pay my own bills too)
Some of the ways these 'blind dates' are dates from HELL ..
-- The guy goes on a Long Litany of "trail of the Ex-es" (seriously -- talks totally about the Ex-es .. and not one bit of a break at all .. doesn't even know whom he is set up with and doesn't care!)
-- The guy is interested .. talks about where he lives
(hmm .. lives with his elderly momma) ..
that's not too bad if the elder needs help and you are caring for her and paying your fair share
BUT .. when they Spew Forth the REST of the tale ..
"I live with momma because I can't pay my bills .. "
(and then goes into the litany of not having a job for years)
GOT to say .. HELL-o -- I'm paying MY share of this date and going MY OWN WAY!
-- Guy is all about 'working the room' .. set up with you .. but asking about the status of every female there .. asking for numbers .. trying to appear like he's so slick .. (and ignoring you .. the one he was set up with .. )
-- He starts out by describing his Sexual Proclivities (shudder) ..

What a terrible experience too! I got stuck with him and my sister and the guy she was seeing at the time for an entire weekend. He posed...on what was supposed to be my bed...in nothing but whitey tighties. I acted like I wasn't going to go to bed afterall and just stayed up all night drinking beer to dull the pain...lmao
99 times out of a hundred, it doesn't work out too well. Luckily, I found the exception! I'm seeing a lady that I met via a blind date, and she's incredible. Knockout beautiful (I mean, waaay outta my league), friendly, etc. etc.... It can work.
