Not physically or even in a shoutdown. I was taught that was a very low class thing to do. But, I've done a fair amount of slashing with my tongue. That "sticks and stones" thing is wrong. Bruises fade, wounds scar over and broken bones mend.

A few well-chosen words can still throb 50 years later.

The seventh grade was my "coming out" year. That was when I decided that I wasn't going to take anybody's crap at school, even from boys. (Actually I had family issues that I couldn't face and acted out my rage at school instead.) In hindsight, it was pretty stupid.
I was put on detention so much that year that the assistant principal would bring after-school snacks for me. By the end of that school year I had finally grown some brains and wised up. (It took another year till I was ready to deal with my family.)
