My grandparents. Hated it. Especially when I realized how much I thought it was all bull. Now, I think the cathedrals and such are pretty, but I won't step inside one for a good reason.

Until i was about 17 years old. I have NOTHING against church, and have religious beliefs, but having been "forced" to go when i was a kid, as an adult I selectively decide NOT to go, but that doesn't mean I am any less religious!

Yes. I really hate it when the church conscription convoy rumbles through my town.
Nuns coming door to door with their rulers, dragging us out of our living rooms and dragging us to church....damn them, all that kneeling hurts my knees.

Then there the freaking Baptist, they water board.

Jehovah witness, don't open the door...they'll never leave.

Methodist will talk you to sleep and when you wake up, they force you to take communion.

Most of all I fear the holy rollers. The women in long skirts and hair all pulled up in a bun shaking their tambourines and the men, speaking in tongues driving you away from your TV and restrained while the preacher plays his bass and son plays the drums. Oh God save us.

Yes, I hate being "forced" into Church. America is an awful place with all this going on every Sunday, and Wednesday. But I hide in a circle of Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Dio LP's, they won't come near me then.

Way back when i was in the 5-8 age range, my mom was a firm believer that kids should be exposed to church every so often and then when they were older decide if they wanted to go or not, so every once in awhile she would drag me to church.

My grandfather was a Lutheran minister and I was forced to go to Sunday school and church while he was at that church. When they moved him to another church, that finally ended.

Every week in Catholic schooling. Only a few weeks left of it and then it is up to me to decide whether to attend Mass or not... but I am at that age (young adulthood) where I don't know what to think about religion.

As an adult, I have known that God exists for a very long time. Every failed attempt by uniformitarians, abiogeneticists, and "common descenders" to explain how life began from non-life and changed from pure chance, only confirms the faith I have always had.

I was taken to church as a kid but I don't consider it to have been forced. Maybe some of it was as a younger child but I don't think my parents should have left me at home while they went lol. I once loved going but I'm somewhere between an atheist and an agnostic. I believe there MIGHT be something else or someone else but nothing that is perfect.

Every time I go to Church, it's because I'm forced to.
And I go to a catholic school, therefore I'm obligated to attend at least seven services per semester.
The irony behind all of this? I'm actually agnostic atheist.

I'm Atheist of Agnostic Atheism. It's amazing the sophistry games Atheists play to hide from any burden to justify their BELIEF that no God exists.

Theism is a belief that God exists
Agnosticism is withholding judgment (neutral belief position).

Didn't you get the whole point of the definition? Agnostic atheism is when you don't believe in a God, but admit that you don't have the sufficient knowledge to PROVE that there is no God or Gods, as well as no proof to prove that he or they do.

It's just like Christians. There are many different religions, or sub-religions however you want to call it, that believe in a God, but have something, some statement, that contradict the other.
It's all just to find that ONE religion, thing, whatever, that describes your beliefs. Mine is agnostic atheism. If you don't like it, then back off. Not everybody's going to agree with you, and not everyone is a Christian. Deal with it.

Believe me I more than 'get it'. I also know exactly why modern Atheists have invented this phony redefinition of Atheism. They wan't to hide Atheism behind Agnosticism so they can claim Atheism is not a belief position and therefore shirk any burden to justify their belief in evidence or arguments. Theists can justify their beliefs in arguments and evidence. Atheists have no good arguments or evidence, so they play this game with the definition of Atheism

I realize you probably have no idea of the history of this charade modern Atheists feed you, but they are duping you. Real Atheism is a belief position that posits 'No God' - not a neutral position of withholding judgement (Agnosticism).

First, let me correct some grammar: want (second sentence) and a period after "charade".
Now, on to the good stuff.

Well, before I start my ranting, I would highly suggest that you do not use that sort of phrase when in an argument, "I realize you probably have no idea of the history of this charade...". Why? Because you have absolutely no idea what the other person knows and doesn't know. And I can gladly state that I am the type of person that informs themselves before stating an opinion; I also gladly state that I DO know much about the history behind the creation of Atheism AND the need for a much ample diversity.

As I assume you know, Christians were first called like that in Antioch (I believe that's how the name's written in English). Why did they name themselves like this? Because they needed a term that suited their beliefs. This is what's happening with Atheism.

Atheism was present before the 1600s, if I remember correctly, but it wasn't until the 1800s and 1900s that the "Modern Atheism", as we know it now, was created or developed. It's not really any different as how it was in the 1600s; In those times, as well as now, atheism was described as "no god" or "believer of no god", as it is now. But, of course, not all of us can define our beliefs with such simple words a...

But, of course, not all of us can define our beliefs with such simple words and/or statements.
As well as music, dance, TV shows, movies, books, sports and games, religion has its "sub-genera" and categories that describe what it's about. A comedy & action movie is not the same as a romance & action movie, a fantasy book is not the same as a sci-fi or fictitious book, alternative rock is not the same as punk rock, electronic pop is not the same as electronic rock, as well as Agnostic Atheism is not the same as Gnostic Theism, Gnosticism or Atheism. They all differ at some point. Yet, one of them suits you perfectly according to your needs, beliefs and taste.

Therefore, like Christians invented a term that described exactly their perspectives and beliefs, Agnostic Atheists created this term to describe exactly THEIR perspectives and beliefs.

You have no argument. You just don't like my use of appropriate definitions.

(fact) Atheism is properly a belief position - not a psychological state (no-belief). Trees and rocks have 'no belief' on God. Humans hold belief positions. Atheists believe no God exists.

(fact) Atheism is NOT Agnosticism, Atheism does NOT withhold judgement.
Again, Atheists believe no God exists.

If Atheists could defend their beliefs in evidence and arguments, they would not need to hide Atheism behind Agnosticism.
