I love boating but am lousy at deep sea fishing. LOUSY as in they pass me around the boat to chum... I've tried four times - sunny days, cloudy days, medicated, ate before we launched, and then _I_ launched. As long as I can see land, I am fine. I get terribly motion sick even when a passenger in a car so... We are getting a canoe this summer so we can go out on lakes and fish, which will be very nice.
Before our divorce, my ex purchased a small boat. He took me and our two small dogs with him for a short ride. All I could think of was "JAWS"; I don't know how to swim; we had no life jackets; the two dogs were terrified and clinging to me the whole time!!!!
WE COULDN'T WAIT TO GET BACK TO LAND AND GET OFF THAT BOAT!!!!
In the navy a boat is a submarine, and I have only been in a restored WWII submarine. I spent almost 14 years on 3 different ships while in the Navy... :)
I have been in small boats on a lake. I did a kayak on the Colorado river. I also went on larger boats on the ocean. That was a big mistake, I got very sea sick.
