I've been fooled before but not duped (online or some other scam). I'm sorry you got that fake paypal. One of my friends sold a laptop COD on eBay. The people he sold it to gave the UPS man a fake check that UPS did not validate properly (among other things, the back was completely blank with no watermarks). Unfortunately, he didn't come to me with his claim against UPS until after both the UPS contract period and statute of limitations had run out.

Purchased a new trinocular microscope which was supposed to support certain devices expanding the versatility of the unit. In reality the quality produced of the feature was much less than acceptable, They were out of stock with the model i ordered so I suggested they hold the money until they restock and then fill the order, in the end they sent me a substitute model which did not meet the same standard so i didn't get what i ordered. Now I have three. They advertised an item, complete with specifications and reviews then upon phone discussions told me that it really didn't function and perform as advertised. Now it was to late and complicated to recover my funds 3,000 mile away.

I was buying something from this guy a couple of years ago, and he was just going to take my money and "come back" with it. I didn't know him so I told him he needed to give me something as collateral, so he did. He never came back and it turns out what he left was MUCH better than what I wanted in the first place. So really he duped himself.

In New Orleans, in the French Quarter the textbook shyster said: "For $5.00 I'll tell
you where you got your shoes'. Being of unsound mind and with about a 1/2 gallon
Hurricane in my hand, I professed: "No WAY!" and agreed to the wager.
"Ya' got 'em on yo' FEET, on BOURBON STREET! Pay da' man!
I went to the Cafe' du Monde, had a demitasse and sobered up.

One time on the job, I was standing there and talking to someone. I pushed open the door, and I noticed there were no urinals on the wall. I looked at the door, and it said "Women." Thank goodness there was not any in there.

If you are on Facebook, you are being scammed, and insulted by the way.

When asked about those that use Facebook, Zuckerman(?) replied that his users were a "bunch of F---kin idiots"

That scam cost him me and about 10 other family members.

As to PayPal, I have used it in business and personal use for over 10 years now. If you got scammed, they will definately make it right. If however you opened one of the Phising or Malware Emails that circulate to take advantage, it's your fault.

When you get one of those you are supposed to forward it to them at their Fraud protection people. Links and instructions are on their website.

I did walk into the ladies room a long time ago... wondered where all the urinals were. :O)

IAC, I got trojaned sometime last month-- no idea how it happened, so I dumped Windows for a Linux distro. The security is worth the hassle of learning a whole new system.

The word on that was out form months. Even Microsoft Security essentials cleaned it off my Windows 7 computer. It actually Quarantined it, then during a full scan allowed me to Remove it altogether.

Gotta watch for those Windows information tools. And if you follow them you will have a glitch free system. Which I have had ever since I Beta Tested Windows 7. over 3 years now on this same p[latform, and humming.

I'd used Windows since 3.X and protected myself from viruses, malware, worms, etc. by using common sense. Always quarantined and scanned any infectable files, avoided the default installation paths, avoided popular browsers, etc.

That trojan was the only problem I've had in all these years, and I have no idea where it came from. So... couldn't feel secure anymore. Ubuntu is a bit quirky, but I'm figuring it out a bit at a time, and I like it. I'll probably have Windows installed on the next box I get, but won't hesitate to dump it for Linux. It's nice not having all those files and directories being created all over the place.
