I meant to choose No. We've got plenty of sharp garden implements and blunt DIY tools down the cellar to keep the burglars at bay as well as an alarm.

The experts say, that in most cases, if someone breaks in to your house, the intruder will be someone that you know. There was a time I did not believe this to be true. but, the people who broke into my house, learn more about me than they ever wished to discover.

I think my now ex husband had given someone a key to our house just to spy on me. I would come home and things would seem to be moved. Could never prove it, but changed the locks quicker than anything.

About a month ago, someone broke into my house, stole the keys to the van and the van. We got it back a few days later though.

having to deal with the insurance company afterwards was the real crime! make sure you have a separate jewelry policy, mine only covered $400. policy only covered $300 in cash as well.

insurance companies want their premiums in a timely manner, will cancel @ midnight on due date, but took then more that a month to begin paying my claim. additionally, premiums have increased every year since (allegedly due to increased construction cost in my area @ a time when buying home is still near record lows).

And pretty traumatizing as well, now if a stranger knocks on my door, instead of answering I have the instinct to call 911 instead, I think it made me half crazy.

When I was in my country someone came in our house at night and took all kitchen staff while all the family slept. Basically it was a thief.

    Yep. Me. And my brother.

He lost the house key and I didn't have one at the time so we broke through his tiny window so we could get inside. We didn't vandalize anything but we did raid the fridge.

it's just as well, my room's a health hazard - they'd fall and hurt themselves before managing to steal anything.

But no one took anything! They just left a bunch of wrapped up boxes with ribbons & what not all under a tree. It was awful... I felt violated.

They tried once but were scared off when we opened our garage door. We had no idea that our house was nearly broken into until we got to my room, where the screen on my window was cut open.

We just came back from our two-week holiday in Croatia and found the place turned upside down. Valuable stuff was missing (computer and other electronic devices) and they had been rummaging through our photographs and papers.
