I don't know about desperate. I met my partner online and married her too. I would do it all over again, no regrets.

How is this necessarily desperate? Dating can occur online. Phone numbers should be exchanged at some point though.

kind of a weird question, if you gave a person you knew on the internet the impression that you were interested why would it be "desperate" if they asked to date? I met my fiance online, we have been together for 3 years now. I know a few couples that have met online and they are doing great, others have met in real life and since split. The chances of a relationship surviving are no different than that of 'traditional' dating.
