Thanks for the good wishes. With all the political strife in this country, I hope everyone is able to reflect on that which makes America GREAT: the *ability* to have this much political strife, without actual violence.

Yes, I will be celebrating Independence day, however many are confused as to what exactly this solemn holiday is...

Celebrate that which deserves to be venerated, shun that which deforms our indispensable values and noble aspirations. The Fourth of July is not a government anniversary. It is a time to remember that independence is the spirit and the soul of the nation. The fireworks are for as John Adams rightly affirms - a Day of Deliverance. That liberation from captivity is what we honor and so often forget. If any are incapable of understanding the distinction between the goal of liberty and the reality of tyranny, you should study your heritage on this solemn day.

Thanks. It won't be if there are no fireworks. Some Indiana counties cancelled fireworks due to very dry conditions.

No fireworks this year. Indiana is too dry right now, so police said no.
At least the grill is still legal!

July is one of the independence month for some countries so happy Independence day those who celebrate their Independence day including me.

It is my absolute favorite holiday: no gift giving, you don't have to cook a turkey or ham, you just go have fun! It's just the best.
My husband and I are going into Boston on the 3rd. It's Fleet Week and there are all kinds of special events marking the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 (Old Ironsides resides in Boston and it was that war which made her famous). We have Tall Ships here, too. So many things going on in Boston. Can't wait!!
