I hear to many complaints about what a horrible country this is. You really need to look at the good this country does. You cannot comment on your likes and dislikes an many other countries of the world. So stop tearing up my country!

I've lived in other countries and even though they were exotic/beautiful, they didn't beat home for me here in the states!

I really love America, but those american movies are revaling a too selfcentered and a too "I think so highly of ourselves" position, which I don't like at all. I doubt american people are like this. I'll just have to find out myself sooner or later, which will be like... next year.

America has its customs and traditions already. Most importantly it has a structure that is unlike any other country. There are plenty of places that might offer what you want if you don't FREEDOM so don't try to take it away from me just because you don't like it! Government is not the solution, self-governance and self responsibility are traits of an American. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! If you don't work hard then you will fail no matter where you are.

I have to disagree on that point Lorenzo. Change starts at the bottom. The people thought Obama was going to bring them change, but they neglected to understand that change never comes from the top, the top are always quite content being at the top.

How can you say it didn't work for FDR? Given that take on things one would expect that his policies would have led to the demise of America, instead America entered its greatest period of economic growth and prosperity.

I've no desire to see a welfare state, but equally I've no desire to see the capitalist 'Robber Barons' left to run unrestrained. I'm supportive of Ron Paul for three things. I loath the criminal foreign policy all other candidates embrace, I believe the Federal Reserve to be the most corrupt institution imaginable and I think in many things matters belong in the hands of the States as the State is better able to reflect the wishes of the people.

Partially because half of his progressive policies were struck down by the court, partially because some of them were only upheld because he added justices to the court for a majority, partially because of unsustainable systems he put in place (SS, medicare), but mostly because his policies failed while he expanded the power of the government, especially the executive branch. It was WWII that ended the Great Depression, not the New Deal. There's plenty of information out there how if we don't fix it, it will lead to the demise of the nation and your take that because it hasn't it won't is shortsighted, I believe. He did instill some confidence in the American people through his own confidence but that has nothing to do with his policies (although some were good) and was overwritten by the damage done. I never claimed FDR ended the depression, I simply stated that America enjoyed its pinnacle in the wake of his administration. And the policies of his predecessors had America on a quick ride into oblivion, the same path everyone seems to be intent upon returning to.

SS, Medicare are not inherently unsustainable systems, they have just been badly mismanaged. To claim that such programs are bad simply because they are not overseen properly is simply disingenuous. I do agree with you that FDR's expansion of Executive authority was disastrous, and its an expansion that every single President since has increased. The worst action of FDR in my opinion was on the foreign policy front. He, more than anyone, dragged America into WW2 compounding the errors of Wilson and almost single handedly creating the grotesque MIC that has subverted the Republic to its greedy ends.

I also never said that America isn't facing its demise, I just disagree with you on what will bring it about. Socialist policies will not destroy America, policies that are creating an uber wealthy ruling class is what will destroy the Republic. Already the new aristocracy, along with the old world banking class have hijacked the democratic process so that no matter who votes for who, it is the wealthy who are represented.
