There's not much more to add to this. I couldn't agree more with him. Though not always true, most wars benefit no one but the rich.

Fine man Woodrow. He knew people, and he saw things clearly.

Wouldn't that be great? Let the chickenhawks go fight their own damn wars and screw the military industrial complex.

Even now, many years later, his words still ring true.

"Old men declare war"... but young people are the ones who have to fight in them.

Love anything Woody said or sang !!! A true hero. grandpa Walton
Did you know the Grandpa Walton (Wtll Geer) had traveled around with Woody for a while, to the camps and just around the country and was the reasons Geer was blackballed from making movies or appearing on any TV shows. I knew there were other reasons I really liked Grandpa Walton too

I knew that Will Geer had been blackballed for his political activity. In fact, I think the Waltons was a big comeback for him. But no, I didn't know he had traveled with Woody Guthrie. Another hero of mine is Pete Seeger. I believe he's still alive at 93 years old. I had the great experience and privilege of hearing him in Boston in either 1968 or 69. The whole place was singing along. it was the most uplifting, moving experience I had up that point.
I wish there was someone with the know how to organize a march on Washington prior to the election and have some performers not just singing but leading us all in song. Bringing us together. I think a gathering like this would move more people than any political ad could. It would certainly be more effective than OWS was, I think. And there would be no politics, only people coming together for peace, community and oneness.

Pete Seeger is on the Colbert Report TONIGHT. Don't know if you watch it but I can't believe I was just talking about him and he's on TV. He's 93 yrs old. Can't wait to see him!
