The ones that really get in me head are great! But sometimes I'm just in the mood for a bloody show! (wait that sounds gross) Blood, and gore.

Ones that play with your mind.
Gory is boring, I've come to discover, although I used to be the other way around.

The ones that give me something to think about are the ones I enjoy the most! Ones that deal with people slowly going mad, or the ones that make you wonder if they're truly goinmg insane or is there really something going on?"The Broken" and "The Baby's Room" are perfect examples of the type of movie that will stay with me long after I've watched them!

There's nothing scary about 'shock value' I'd rather have those that get into your head because they can happen. Cujo is a good example rabies does exist. Also the ones that make you fill in the blanks, Imagining what happens is much more powerful than seeing graphic gore splatter.

yeah shock value is something to laugh after you almost shat yourself but it's only scary when it happens, unlike the ones that get into your head which are scary for weeks afterward.

Get in your head movies. I hate movies that are all gore with no real good plot or anything that even makes you think. I like the psychological stuff. I like wondering whats happening or what's going to happen. Suspense and thriller plus fear. If I have to figure it out, it's good. I guess all things considered, I should clarify. I don't like slasher flicks. The couple making out is going to die. The cute blonde and the jock are most likely going to die. The down-to-earth girl next door will probably end up surviving, and/or killing the bad guy (but only almost, because heaven forbid there's a slasher film without ten sequels). I did enjoy the movies like the Grudge, the Messengers, and the Ring, which are good for something not too scary and fairly predictable...just relaxed. I dunno.

gothica was interesting. The actress played her part well and handled it much better than most. I've heard of but not seen the other two.

lately movie makers have been using gore because they know they can't scare us anyway else, so they justv show s something completely disgusting, that'll make us wanna puke. thyen when we leave the the theatre we think "well that was scary". examples, hostel, human centipede, ect.

Oh thank you for asking this; I cannot express enough how much I feel gore, blood and guts have ruined horror movies. Directors seem to think that maximum gore = maximum scares! Not the case, I've not watched ANY of the Saw movies because I've heard how gross they are. Won't go near Hostel, not even keen on Final Destination 5 even though I've seen and liked 1-4. I want psychological, spooky scares, something I don't forget and makes me scared to go to bed! Not something that just makes me feel sick!!!

Although it is very gory, Saw is actually a good film with well made plot twists, unlike Hostel.
