I prefer the Grinch. because there's actually a solid moral lesson in there, about giving of yourself, and that Christmas isn't just about presents.
Of course, like nearly all children's holiday specials (except for Charlie Brown, course; Schultz insisted upon them including Linus reciting the verse from Luke), it carefully omits the Reason we celebrate Christmas, but you can't have everything.
There used to be alot of grinch in me, not because Christmas irritated me but because i'm by nature a cynical person and people irritate me. But i have found as i've aged i've become a little more like Frosty, i'm a little more relaxed around people a bit more tolerant and not po'd at people as much !
Hated the movie, loved the TV special. Even at age 50, I never miss it. It never fails to make me laugh and, as always, Dr. Suess' message comes through loud and clear.
Christmas is the most depressing time of the year. People run around trying to make others happy with presents they cannot afford. Or try to clear thier guilt by feeding some poor bum at Christmas.
Ho Ho Ho
Huge fan of Santa Claus is Comin' To Town. The Burgermeister Meisterburger was definitely my inspiration to learn German. All those toy-less kids, so sad with their gray hair. Oh, the hilarity.
I like the Grinch, because even though he started out "bad", he ended up being a "good Grinch" once he realized that the townspeople didn't put full stock in their possessions, but rather spending time with their friends and families during Christmas. But I liked Frosty too, he's a good guy!!!!
