When I am a French citizen I will give it some serious thought.
Until then, my only concern is the direction and functionality of the government of the United States of America and the citizens of this nation.
The rest can go worry about themselves.
The more reason why the US economy should not be so intertwined with other economies. If our economy were to collapse how fast would our so called friends come to help us out? Not very as recent history has shown.
I don't know if it is completely possible but the US has to close in on itself to a certain extent and take care of things here at home. We have spent ourselves in to a state that we may not be able to recover from and carrying the worries of the world will do nothing but accelerate our demise if we are not careful.
And the reason the US has spent so much? Corporations have moved so many jobs over seas. They have moved their money over seas to avoid paying taxes. Some of the corporations here find tax loopholes so they pay no taxes at all. The jobs going overseas means no work here in the US so unemployment goes up. The unemployed means no money coming into the US treasury from taxes and money going out to pay for unemployment benefits. The US needs to figure out a way to keep the work here but no one wants to regulate the corporations because it is a "free market".
"The US needs to figure out a way to keep the work here..." Then simply stop buying products made over seas. "We" individually are as responsible for companies moving overseas as anything else you noted. Our demand for the cheapest products forces manufacturers off shore to produce at lower costs. If Americans demanded and only bought products made in the USA allot of this crap would come to an end.
USA was known as a Freedom country in the past. Now, sadly, is loosing it's leadership becoming to a "bad police" role. Also...there is no country left without huge debts. Hard to think to help economicly, to a rich country as USA...
We still are the Freedom Country, what we are not anymore is the go to guy if your country is in a financial bind. We have spent our selves dry and there is no more to go around.
Or the USA , indeed :-)
