My opinion on the Catholic faith is very simple.
it is archaic, as are many of its policies.
i gave up on that church because of the almost continually fresh stories of pederasty.
i do believe that child molestation would become almost non existent if priests were allowed to marry.
likewise, many women would be less afraid to take holy orders if they were allowed to have a life that included marraige.
the history of convents is rather sad, as it was a place of refuge for women in the past to hide from the injustices of societies that were completely male dominated. some willingly chose it, others were forced in to it to flee from troubles they would otherwise have been unable to escape.

Forbidding not to marry became a Catholic teaching and not part of any earlier Christian doctrine or embraced by later Protestant churches. Here is the full context in 1 Timothy (NIV). :

1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. 3 They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. 4 For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

Why shouldn't Nuns marry? Or even be in a commited relationship. I get so tired on every one telling every else how to live. A woman can devote herself to "God" and a family as well. Why take life from them.
