For Avatar Fans: What is it about the movie I did not get?

One of the main arguments I've seen in defense of Avatar is "You just didn't get it". So what part of Avatar did I not get? If it's the fact that it's just a movie, then I know, However fiction does not excuse a poor plot. If it's the message then, yeah I got it. If it's the visual effects, then, I know it's pretty!!! So please inform me what I do not get.
