No, no one lives near enough to me to do this. I think that taking the commute alone in the car is relaxing.
I'd hate to ride a bus/train and have people invade my personal space. In my own car I don't have to hear people whining, see them coughing, listen to loud conversations, get heckled for money, be sexually harassed or annoyed by people I can actually hear.
I'd probably walk with ear buds or ride my bike rather than use public transport- sorry it's just not safe enough and too obtrusive.

Group commuting -- riding buses, trains, subways or sharing cars and vans -- rose from 2005 to 2011 in more than a third of 342 metropolitan areas for which data exist, according to a USA TODAY analysis.
The leader of group commuting in the U.S., by far, is New York. There was a two-percent-point jump in New York mass transit use, according to USA Today. In fact, almost a third of residents in the New York metro area use public transportation. Whether it's by bus, trains, subways or carpooling, do you think "group commuting" is a good idea? Would you ever do it?

Trains and Buses: The smart man's choice.
In three years gasoline will cost $7.70 a gallon. A combination of the Obama Administration's war on fossil fuels combined with its inflationary Quantitative Easing money-printing policy will make it so. No question about it.
So how will Americans respond to $7.70 gasoline? The total cost of driving the typical gasoline-powered car will be $1.50 per mile. That means that a trip to Wal-Mart and back will cost $15.00 if the Wal-Mart is only 5 miles away, figuring in maintenance and depreciation of the vehicle. A ten-mile commute to your job will take $9,000 of annual after-tax income just to get there and back.
How about a plug-in electric car? All you need is a 240-volt electric outlet in your garage. Did I say garage? What about lower-income people who do not have a garage? I guess they'll just have to stay home and collect welfare.
It's all about quality of life. If you are forced out of your own car and onto public transportation, you put yourself in the hands of an unreliable system. Once you become totally dependent upon the transit system, the labor unions who call the shots will call a strike and you'll be left without any transportation. And without a car, the government and its labor unions can pretty much dictate where you are ...

A decline in the quality of life. A decline in personal freedom. All this awaits the average joe in America. It's a damn shame, especially since we had come so far. Thank for reading. Have a nice day.
If the politicians had listened to T.Boone Pickens and required semi trucks to convert to natural gas, 70mpg diesel commuter cars would be paying $2/gallon when you're buying gasoline for $7+. I know a guy that rides his bicycle 20 miles to work almost every day.
You know Ayn Rand was an atheist, right?
Bad Psychology to drive in a vehicle that hold 6 alone exclusively not to mention wasting land & fuel.
Is it any wonder our economy is shutting down, with tyrant Obama's sky-high gasoline prices? How can we go anywhere, even to work, when there's no jobs? Might as well sit at home, or leave Babylon America for good.
