Only person I ever rode with was my brother. Many years ago. I know they are fun - but they are just so dangerous. Even if you are as careful as you can be - and my brother is - you just have so much more of a chance of being in an accident - and there is nothing to protect you - except a helmet if the person chooses to wear one - and my brother does.
I had a beautiful 1978 BMW R/80 that I bought brand new. I rode it to Maine and thru Ontario twice. Lots of great memories on it. I cried when I sold it 2 years ago but it went to a good home.
Whenever motorcycles are near me on the road I'm extra careful to be predictable to them and avoid an accident. After seeing the consequences, even a slow accident with a motorcycle can have lasting consequences.
All motorcycle safty courses specify that people making left hand turns are the single biggest factor in motorcycle crashes. There are many others that are simply because the person riding had poor skills in riding.
I climb - i've free-soloed (climb > 50 feet without a rope). It's all about risk management. Truth be told, my buddy hadn't been riding a year yet and had a fast bike. They should put experience restrictions for buying the crotch rockets.
RIDE??
I'd learned to drive a MOTORCYCLE as a young girl in the fields ...
when 1st able to (as soon as my birthday happened) I obtained my Motorcycle Endorsement on my License (and I immediately passed every bit of the tests that day too)
Some decades later .. (I'm so not admitting how long ago my first license was .. nor first time I drove one) ..
I can definitely ATTEST to the true LOVE of the FREEDOM of motorcycling on the Road!
