Yup sure did. I pre enlisted in the Air Force as a senior in high school. Took all the tests, did very well on them, had my Air Force career picked out and all the paperwork completed. It was a couple days after graduation and I had to go to the recruiters office to get my bus ticket, I was to leave the next day for the physical and boot camp. The recruiter said he wanted to check my BP as I seemed a little high strung I think was the way he put it. He did. It was high. He suggested I see a doctor to confirm if I had high blood pressure or not. I did, the doc did, and I did. That was the abrupt end of any kind of chance for joining any branch of the military ever. Now almost four decades later, I still have it and I'm lucky to still be alive. I just wish I'd taken better care of it over the years.
Just out of H.S. i was going to join the Navy. Rejected, my eyes were too bad and I was asthmatic. My BFF joined the Air Force as planned and made a career of it. I always felt sad that I couldn't live my dream. Oh well, I got married, had kids and it was all good! :)
My ex was in the USAF when we married. I did consider joining at that time, as they were good about stationing husbands and wives in the same location, but I didn't. Too bad, too, as it was before they changed the GI Bill (Vietnam era) and it would have helped a LOT for college, when I returned.
or so they say over 20 percent of american homeless are military! they don't give a hoot about those who serve, they make promises then dump you on the street once you finish serving
Working for the VA at one time, I could tell you too many stories about government bureaucracy. My ex worked in medical supply when he was in the USAF. I could tell you stories of waste which could balance the budget.
Obeying orders is not my forte...
